Founded in Gaborone, 2005

Experts in software. Partners in business.

FinDev Services (Pty) Ltd is a Botswana software company that builds the systems regulated businesses run on. Twenty years, five countries, nine core products — and a leadership team that spent a career inside financial services before writing a line of code for it.

Who we are

A regional development centre, headquartered in Gaborone

FinDev Services is a custom software development and system integration company. We were founded in Gaborone in 2005 as a financial software development company, providing agile software solutions and support to the financial services sector. Two decades later we are a recognised software development leader in that sector, with notable solutions and clients across banking, insurance and capital markets.

Our presence has expanded across the SADC region — Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique and Zimbabwe — but the engineering has stayed here. Development and support are Gaborone-based, which means our clients get people in their own time zone who understand their regulatory landscape without needing it explained.

Our substantial software development experience, combined with a genuine financial services background, is what lets us build software that solves real-world problems rather than software that demonstrates well.

FinDev is accredited by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), the national authority for investment and trade promotion — recognition of our standing as an established Botswana technology company.

The team

Experience that is difficult to match

The hard part of enterprise software is rarely the code. It is understanding the process, the regulation and the commercial reality well enough to model them correctly the first time. That is where our advantage sits.

Experienced leadership

Our team is led by Managing Director Gary Lord and Technical Director Gautam Addanki, with a combined sixty years of experience in financial services and a proven track record of technological innovation and delivered quality.

A dedicated development hub

A fifteen-person development, delivery and support team, based here in Gaborone, that can rapidly prototype and deliver systems meeting the real-world and evolving needs of our clients — without a hand-off to an offshore team who have never met you.

A commitment to support

Access to dedicated round-the-clock technical support centres ensures smooth operation, speedy query resolution and comprehensive user training — for the life of the system, not just the warranty period.

Our value proposition

Three commitments we are held to

1

A customer-focused approach

We place our customers' needs at the core of every system we develop. That is what allows our solutions to evolve and grow with a business rather than constraining it — offering real value both now and in the future.

2

Innovation and adaptability

Our developers and business analysts work together so that what we build not only matches your stated requirements but survives contact with your real-world business challenges — the exceptions, the volumes and the edge cases.

3

Reliability and stability

Every system is rigorously tested for the stability our customers depend on. Within that discipline we foster creativity and continuous improvement, because a system that never changes stops being useful.

How we build

Development methodology

Six practices that between them explain why we can deliver a bespoke system on a package timeline.

AgileA flexible approach to your unique requirements through close collaboration and regular feedback loops — not a specification frozen in month one and discovered to be wrong in month nine.
Modular designIndependent, reusable modules that make development, maintenance and scaling straightforward, and let us assemble rather than rebuild.
5GL developmentA fifth-generation coding language that enables rapid development of genuinely complex systems, which is the technical reason our timelines look the way they do.
PrototypingQuick, simplified working models of the software for final sign-off, so you approve something you have used rather than something you have read about.
Secure by designSecurity features that protect against data breaches and unauthorised access and ensure confidentiality — built in from the first module, not audited in at the end.
Seamless integrationSmooth data exchange and interoperability with the systems you already run, without disruption or late compatibility surprises.
Security & assurance

Built to survive a bank's security review

Our systems run inside regulated financial institutions, which means they are audited and tested continuously by parties other than us. Security is not a section in our brochure — it is a precondition of our clients being allowed to use the software at all.

Our platforms have been designed for African markets and their regulatory compliance requirements, with two decades of accumulated understanding of what regulators in this region actually ask for.

The technical picture

  • Cloud-native or on-premise hosting — your choice, your data residency
  • Comprehensive third-party penetration testing
  • Encrypted databases and secure communication channels
  • Real-time database replication
  • Multi-factor authentication with LDAP and Active Directory integration
  • Granular role-based access control and permission-limited remote access
  • Maker–checker (inputter / authoriser) rights giving true segregation of duties
  • Detailed immutable audit logs on every transaction and modification
  • Managed updates, patches and controlled version releases
  • Load balancing and failover mechanisms
  • Automated archiving of historical data to protect performance
  • Optional software escrow protecting your access to source code
Day to day

What working with us actually looks like after go-live

The implementation is the short part of the relationship — some of our client relationships run well beyond a decade — so we designed the ongoing arrangement to be the part that works best.

A dedicated proactive support resource

Someone who knows your configuration, your integrations and your people — and who raises issues with you before you raise them with us.

A named business relationship manager

A single point of accountability for commercial matters, roadmap discussions and escalation — not a ticket queue.

Continuous training development

Ad-hoc and ongoing training as your people change and the system grows — in person or virtual, departmental, agent-level or train-the-trainer.

Rapid turnaround on rule changes

When a regulator changes a requirement or your business changes a policy, the system follows quickly. This is routine work for us, not a project.

Software escrow services

Optional escrow lodges source code with an independent agent, released on defined triggers, so your operations never depend on our continued existence.

24×7 where you need it

An extensive support helpdesk as standard, with dedicated resources available to guarantee genuine round-the-clock availability for operations that require it.
